<p>A drawer slide interlock assembly is provided for a stack of vertically arranged drawers in a cabinet, wherein a pair of drawer slides is used to mount each drawer in the cabinet, the interlock assembly being fitted to the rear of at least one of the drawer slides of each drawer so as to allow the slides to be shrouded, the assembly comprising a housing (20) fitted within an outer one (14) of the drawer slide members of one of the slides of each drawer, the housing (20) having a plate (26) supported thereon preferably slidably and biased towards the rear of the slide member, there being an actuator (32) on a rear end of an inner slide member (16) having an actuating surface (58) thereon which co-operates with an actuator follower (36) slidably supported in the slide member (14) for movement at right angles to the direction of movement of the plate (26), there being releasable latching means (78, 79) extending between the housing (20) and plate (26) and releasable catching means (80, 82) extending between the plate (26) and the actuator (32), the arrangement being such that when a drawer is moved towards an open position from a closed position, the catching means (80, 82) causes the plate (26) to move to a blocking position in which it can be held by the latching means (78, 79), movement of the drawer to such position causing the actuating surface (58) on the actuator to co-operate with a follower surface (46) on the actuator follower (36) so that the actuator follower (36) is moved from a first position to a blocking position which results in any other drawer in the stack being prevented from being opened. There is also disclosed rear interlock assembly provided with a self closing mechanism (50) for each drawer in the stack of drawers.</p> |
