PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict the generation of abnormal noise in a reduction gear mechanism due to the reverse input torque, and to provide the steering assist force independently of the influence of an abnormal noise generation restricting means. SOLUTION: A restricting body 8 for restricting the force to be applied from a steering mechanism 5 to the reduction gear mechanism is provided on the way of a transmission means 6 for transmitting the rotation of a steering assist motor 3 through the reduction gear mechanism. A coefficient of correction is determined in response to the steering torque, and a correction motor current command value is computed on the basis of the coefficient of correction and a motor current command value determined in response to the steering torque, and the driving signal is output to a driving circuit 30 of the motor 3 on the basis of the computed correction motor current command value to obtain the steering assist force independently of the influence of the restricting body 8. |
