摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the disruption of a balance between the strength of a tumble flow and the penetration force of fuel spray in proportion to increase of cylinder temperature. SOLUTION: In a controller for a spark ignition type direct-injection engine composed to inject fuel from a fuel injection valve in opposition to the tumble flow generated in a combustion chamber during stratified combustion of the engine, a tumble flow control means 55 to forcibly change the strength of the tumble flow and a penetration force control means comprised of a fuel pressure control means 53 to forcibly change the penetration force of fuel spray are provided. The controller is composed so as to perform at least one or the other of the following controls: a control to temporarily weaken the strength of tumble flow over against the reference strength of the tumble flow in a stratified combustion zone, or a control to temporarily raise the spray penetration force over against the reference value of spray penetration force in the stratified combustion zone, in the case where it is confirmed that the engine is shifted from a uniform combustion zone to the stratified combustion zone.
