PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supporting apparatus for a member capable of not only moving up and down the member such as a door or the like having a simple configuration and a small exerting force but also of adequately performing balance adjustment between a force given and an exerting force given to a force-applying apparatus when moving a certain member. SOLUTION: The supporting apparatus 3 can support a door 2 in a manner moving it up and down and is equipped with a supporting arm 4 holding the door 2 in a manner moving it up and down by performing a rotating operation, a gas spring 5 for giving a force to the supporting arm 4 by resisting against the gravity when moving the door 2 up and down, and an adjusting mechanism 6 capable of varying a distance between an acting point O of the gas spring 5 acting to a support arm 4 and a falcrum of rotation F of the supporting arm 4.
