SURFACTANT AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surfactant having excellent surface active performance and biodegradability. SOLUTION: The surfactant represented by chemical formula (1) (wherein R<1> is hydrogen or a 1-22C alkyl group; R<2> is a 1-22C alkyl group; total carbon number of R<1> and R<2> is 6-24) and the method for producing the surfactant are provided. Since lipase is used in the method for producing the surfactant and a raw material compound for the surfactant is also biochemically produced, the raw material and the surfactant can be produced at a low reaction temperature (40-80 deg.C) saving energy and can efficiently be produced in high selectivity of reactions and high yields, compared with a chemical synthesis method.
