The invention proposes a method for improving network performance of a data packet switched network which encompasses at least one unit for sending data packets (SU), at least one unit for receiving data packets (RU), and at least network element (Snoop) for controlling and/or monitoring data packet traffic between said sending and said receiving unit whereby in case of at least one redundancy of packet occurs within said network, said redundant packets are filtered out from said network prior to receipt of the receiving unit.
