PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal latent image type direct positive silver halide emulsion that improves sensitization of a re-reversal negative image in storage and to provide a silver halide photographic sensitive material containing the emulsion. SOLUTION: The internal latent image type direct positive silver halide photographic emulsion is produced in the presence of at least one oxo acid salt of halogen represented by the formula M(XOn )m wherein M is an alkali metal ion or an alkaline earth metal ion; X is a halogen atom; n is 2 or 3; and m is 1 or 2.
