PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent cooling efficiency from decreasing. SOLUTION: The light image projected by an optical unit 10 is reflected by a reflecting mirror 3 and then projected on a screen 4 to display an image. Here, a cooling fan 8 is driven and then air outside the device is taken in as cooling air from an air intake 6, passed through an intake duct 11 and an outlet duct 12, and discharged from an outlet 7, while cooling a light valve, etc., in the optical unit 10 to cool an electrical accessory part 13. As compared with a conventional structure having an air intake 6 arranged on a front-side wall surface 5A, an opening can be made large by arranging the air intake 6 on a back-side wall surface 5B and the cooling efficiency can be increased.
