PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-beam scanner without causing any jitter due to a state of a synchronization position determining means that is tilted, or has unevenness or is curved so as to obtain an excellent image at all times and to provide an image forming device using the scanner. SOLUTION: In the multi-beam scanner and image forming device where a plurality of luminous fluxes emitted from a light source means 1 are guided to a deflection means 5, a scanning optical means 7 guides a plurality of the luminous fluxes deflected by the deflection means onto a face to be scanned 8, part of a plurality of the deflected luminous fluxes by the deflection means is led to a synchronization detection means 10, and a synchronizing signal obtained by the synchronization detection means is used to scan beams, the synchronization detection means has a synchronization position decision means 13 and parts of a plurality of luminous fluxes deflected by the deflection means respectively reach the same position or nearly the same position of the synchronization position decision means within a subscanning cross section.
