PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To diagnose the detection means before occurring malfunction and an erroneous unoperated condition to evade bringing unfavorable influence in the whole facility. SOLUTION: Input and determining parts 62, 63, 64, 65 are provided to change projected light quantities of signals output from respective detectors 51, 52, 53, 54 comprising photoelectric switches so as to determine lowering of detection abilities based on output signals of the respective detectors 51, 52, 53, 54 accompanied thereto. By this constitution, the possibility of the generation of the malfunction and the erroneous unoperated condition in the each detector 51, 52, 53, 54 is diagnosed preliminarily by determining lowering of the detection ability based on the output signal of the each detector 51, 52, 53, 54, a maintenance (countermeasure) such as replacement is thereby carried out before the respective detectors 51, 52, 53, 54 generate the malfunction and the erroneous unoperated condition, and the possibility that the whole physical distribution facility is affected by the malfunction of the respective detectors 51, 52, 53, 54 is avoided thereby.
