PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide at a low price a hinge mechanism which is used for a document pressing device, mounted in a swiveling state on an image read part and supported so that the device is opened to a closure position where it faces a document platen and closed to an opening position where it is opened, and also improves operability and safety. SOLUTION: When the document pressing platen is to be opened exceeding a certain angle, a resisting force operates and is removed at the opening position and at the same time, a resisting force stopping movement to the closure position operates. This hinge mechanism comprises a 1st support member and a connecting member and can be supported horizontally over a document mount surface at arbitrary height within a fixed range. |
