PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer in which the work for acquiring and setting a printer driver can be performed automatically. SOLUTION: Upon recognizing the fact that a printer 1 is connected with a computer 2 through a connecting means 11, a driver recognition means 12 recognizes the setting environment of the computer 2 concerning to the driver of a printer 1. When a decision is made that setting of the driver is required based confirmation (decision) by the driver recognition means 12, a setting means 13 transfers the driver to the computer 2 in order to set a print environment in the computer 2. The setting means 13 sets means for charging the computer 2 for the print incident to a print designation from the computer 2.
