PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an embedded optical isolator using a polarization glass with an inexpensive and highly accurate structure and an assembling method thereof. SOLUTION: In the embedded optical isolator where an optical element comprising polarization glass and a Faraday rotator, is fixed to an embedding groove of a ferrule capillary for supporting an optical fiber and having the embedding groove to which the optical element is to be embedded in an arranged state with the optical fiber and a permanent magnet to apply a magnet field to a Faraday rotator is placed around the optical element, the optical element is formed in a rectangular parallelepiped shape a rectangular groove to which a reference side of the optical element is inserted and aligned and a reference side nearly in parallel with the bottom of the rectangular groove are formed to the permanent magnet, the optical element whose reference side is inserted and fixed to the rectangular groove of the permanent magnet is inserted and fixed to the embedding groove of the ferrule capillary, and the reference side of the permanent magnet to which the reference side of the optical element is inserted and fixed is inserted and fixed to a support groove of a holder member having a rectangular support groove to which the permanent magnet is inserted aligned and a reference holder face nearly in parallel with the bottom of the support groove. |
