PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator with little penetration of the outside air into the inside to solve a problem of an existing refrigerator forming a cold air curtain on the front opening of a refrigerator compartment that the quantity of cold air of the cold air curtain will not be in a prescribed massive cold air supply condition unless a door of the refrigerator compartment is opened to a certain extent and the outside air penetrates into the refrigerator compartment to rise the temperature inside the refrigerator compartment before the quantity of cold air is in that condition after the door begins to open. SOLUTION: In the refrigerator, a cold air curtain is formed on the front opening of the refrigerator compartment with air cooled by a cooler circulating through a cold air duct with a fan. When the door is closed, the presence of a person on the front side of the refrigerator is detected by a sensor. Based on the detection, the quantity of cold air flowing in the cold air curtain is made to be in the same cold air supply condition as when the door is opened before the door for open/close the front opening of the refrigerator compartment is opened. |
