PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molding method which reduces the molded object weight difference between the end part and central part of a mold in multi-impression molding of a sheet to suppress the weight/strength fluctuations between molded objects, and is capable of obtaining the molded object reduced in the strain of a printing pattern caused by molding, and a mold therefor. SOLUTION: In the molding method wherein, in the molding of a container by multi-impression female and male fitted mold using a thermoplastic resin sheet, a sheet holding member accessible to the periphery of the molding plug of a male mold is provided and the holding member of the end part of the mold is protruded within the range of 50-90% of the protruded quantity of the holding member of the central part of the mold to be brought into contact with the sheet and the sheet is subsequently held between the holding member and a female mold and the female and male molds are fitted while keeping the sheet held state, the holding members are housed in the male mold at the time of fitting of the female and male molds.
