PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a manhour for assembling a mold clamping device and in turn, save a manufacturing cost to a low level by simplifying a mold clamping mechanism of an injection molding machine and decrease the number of parts. SOLUTION: This mold clamping device of an injection molding machine comprises one of fixing plates 31 capable of mounting a cavity side half 34 of a mold, the other cavity side half 32 mounted, side by side, with the former cavity side half 31, a movable plate 33 which slides between the cavity side halves 31 and 32 and allows mounting of a movable half 35 and an air cylinder 37 which moves the movable plate 33 so as to mutually open/close the cavity side half 34 and the movable half 35 by getting these halves 34 and 35 into close proximity with or separating them from each other. Both halves 34 and 35 are mutually clamped by a pressure to be generated by an air spring 39.
