PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder structure of an automatic transmission which can be miniaturized by reducing the length in the axial direction of a cylinder and a piston, improve the versatility in designing a working fluid feed-discharge port and effectively utilize a space around the cylinder. SOLUTION: A second brake 110 is disposed on an inner circumferential surface of a case body 190 of a transmission case 180, and a fifth hydraulic servo mechanism 160 to operate this second brake 110 comprises a cylinder 161 and a piston 162 of U-shaped section. A stepped part 600 of the length smaller than the length in the radial direction of the cylinder 161 to support a front end face of the cylinder 161 is formed on the case body 190. A working fluid feed-discharge port 161b is formed in a front end face plate 161a of the cylinder 161, working fluid passages 600a and 600b are formed in the stepped part 600, and the working fluid passage 600b is connected to a control valve 610. In addition, a parking gear 611 formed on an outer circumferential surface of a ring gear 17 connected to an output gear 170 is disposed in a space part 602 inside the stepped part 600.
