PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor for negative charge which is stably excellent in electrical characteristics, light fatigue resistance, deterioration during repetitive use, etc., and makes good image quality obtainable. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor for negative charge laminated with a photoconductive layer of an amorphous material consisting of Si atoms as its parent material, an upper blocking layer of a non-crystalline material consisting of the Si atoms and C atoms as its parent material and containing group 13 elements and a surface layer of a non-crystalline material consisting of the Si atoms and C atoms as its parent material and/or a non- crystalline material consisting of the C atoms as its parent material in this order on a base, in which the group 13 atoms of the upper blocking layer are 100 to 30,000 atomic ppm and the Eg and refractive indices in the positions where optical band gaps (Eg) are maximum within the photoconductive layer and the upper blocking layer, respectively expressed as Eg1 and n1, Eg2 and n2, and these on the extreme surface of the photoreceptor, expressed as Eg3 and n3, are 2.0 eV<=Eg2<=2.3 eV, 2.4<=n2<=3.3, Eg1<=Eg3<=Eg2, n3<n2<n1.
