A centrally mounted light source (3) shines directly downwards (L5, 0) through a two-lens (5, 6) optical condenser (4). Similar condensers direct light beams (L1,... L3, ...) along the horizontal arms of the cruciform casing (1) to inclined mirrors (8), reflecting light downwards on axes (A) which intersect the vertical axis (0) on the plane (12) to be illuminated. Radiated heat, penetrating the mirrors, is absorbed by backing plates (9). Reflected light passes through ports (11) in the casing fitted with two dioptric systems one (dl) correcting optical aberrations, the other (d2) providing multiple spherical or prismatic surface matrices, designed to produce homogeneous illumination of the target plane. Variants have duplicate cruciform beams, or intermediate mirror systems diverting some light through additional ports.
|
