PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which can surely transit an alignment state of a liquid crystal from a non-display alignment state to a display alignment state, especially in the liquid crystal display device having an OCB (optically compensated birefringence) mode. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device is provided with a pair of opposed substrates, a liquid crystal layer disposed between the pair of the substrates and having a display alignment state and a non-display alignment state which differ from each other and being subjected to an initialization process so as to be changed from the non-display alignment state to the display alignment state before an image is displayed, storage-capacitance electrodes 9 provided on one of the pair of the substrates, pixel electrodes 6 provided so as to overlap with the storage capacitor electrodes 9 with an insulator interposed therebetween and disposed between the electrodes 9 and the liquid crystal layer and having a lack portion 6a in a region overlapping with the electrodes 9, and a drive means which performs initialization process by generating potential difference among the electrodes 9 and the pixel electrodes 6. |
