PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus which recover metal copper by using electric energy from a solution containing a copper compound and are capable of performing the recovering in the state of remarkably reducing the electric energy to be used. SOLUTION: The method and the apparatus for recovering the metal copper by an electrolysis of a solution containing univalent copper ion which are a recovering method and apparatus for copper to deposit the metal copper by the electrolysis of the solution containing the univalent copper ions, in which the apparatus is provided with a cathode electrode for depositing the metal copper in the solution containing the univalent copper ions, an anode electrode in the ammonia alkaline solution containing the univalent copper ions and a diaphragm between the cathode electrode and the anode electrode and the electrolysis is performed while the solution is moved from the cathode electrode side to the anode electrode side by passing an electric current to the electrodes.
