PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot water storage type water heater that supplies optimal temperature water and cold water selectively. SOLUTION: Once 'optimal temperature water' is selected at a changeover switch 25, when a hand detecting sensor of an automatic faucet 10 senses a user's hands, a motor-driven valve 7 in a bypass pipe 13 is opened to supply optimal temperature water. Once 'cold water' is selected at the changeover switch 25, when the hand detecting sensor of the automatic faucet 10 senses a user's hands, a motor-driven valve 9 in a bypass pipe 12 is opened to supply cold water. By preselecting either 'optimal temperature water' or 'cold water,' the user can have the desirable water discharge when extending his/her hands.
