PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tooth treatment material removing a smear layer, supplying an inorganic component to dentin in a dental cavity and firmly adhering glass ionomer cement to the dentin. SOLUTION: This tooth treatment agent comprises an aqueous solution of <pH 2, containing 2-30 wt.% water-soluble calcium salt and an acid unreactive with the water-soluble calcium and producing no compound therewith, of half or less weight of the water-soluble calcium salt and an aqueous solution containing 2-30 wt.% water-soluble phosphate another than the calcium salt, or an aqueous solution containing 2-30 wt.% water-soluble calcium salt and an aqueous solution of <pH 2, containing 2-30 wt.% water-soluble phosphate another than the calcium salt and an acid, unreactive with the water soluble phosphate and producing no compound, of half or less weight of the water-soluble phosphate salt, and is applied by coating the aqueous solution containing the salt and, successively, coating the other aqueous solution.
