In a motor vehicle accelerator pedal comprising detachable connecting parts 13, 16 a first of which is attached to a foot-plate 10 and the second is rigidly secured to the floor of the vehicle, the first connecting part 13 is pivotally attached to the foot-plate 10 by a flexible web 11 and includes a slotted fitting 14 for receiving a shaped plate-like element 15 of the second connecting part 16. The first connecting part, the web 11 and the foot-plate 10 are made in one piece of synthetic plastics material. The shaped element 15 fits a slot 18 in the fitting 14 with a clearance which permits limited relative movement in the plane of the element to compensate for errors in alignment between the foot-plate 10 and control linkage connected thereto. The connecting parts 13, 16 are positively connected when the element 15 is received in the fitting 14 by engagement of stops 20, 21, respectively formed one by the edge of an aperture 28 in the element 15 and the other on a flexible tongue 22 projecting inwardly from one wall of the fitting 14. A hole 26 in the fitting 14 permits insertion of a tool for deflecting the tongue 22 to release the element 15 from the fitting 14. |
