<p>A badge (1) or similar, e.g. for a handle of a synthetic material on a pocket knife such as a Swiss Army knife, is made from sheet metal, stamped out so that its central portion (110) and surround (100) are linked by thin connecting pieces (12, 13) which lie below the level of the main surfaces of the central portion and surround, so that they are covered with the synthetic material during moulding. The badge is made with curved outer surfaces which lie flush with the synthetic material, and the thin connecting pieces (12, 13) are stamped so that they lie below the level of the outer surfaces and are concealed below the synthetic material layer. During moulding the badge can be held in the required position by a vacuum or magnetism.</p> |
