PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent compound that emits fluorescence of high intensity. SOLUTION: The fluorescent compound is represented by general formula (1) (wherein Ar1 , Ar1 ', Ar2 and Ar2 ' are each an aromatic hydrocarbon ring or a heterocylic ring both of which may be substituted; these aromatic hydrocarbon ring and the heterocyclic ring are condensed to the pyrrol ring at the 2, 3 position or to the pyrol ring at the 4, 5 position; and Ar3 and Ar3 ' are each an aryl group or a heterocyclic group which may be substituted).
