PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a pillow-type packet of excellent quality. SOLUTION: In a method and a machine (1) for manufacturing a rigid packet of cigarettes out of a substantially rectangular blank (5), the blank (5) has two main longitudinal direction crease lines (29) and a large number of transverse crease lines (30) to demarcate central panels (19', 20', and 19") having lateral wings (18' and 18") between these two main longitudinal crease lines (29). The flat blank (5) is fed to a pre-folding part (S4), and at least one lateral wings (18' and 18") out of the central panels (19', 20' and 19") are folded about the respective corresponding main longitudinal crease lines (29) in the prefolding station (S4), and the blank (5) is restored to a flat configuration before the blank (5) is fed to a followup folding part (S2). |
