PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a fire-protective ventilating member, which ensures sufficient ventilation performance at an installation portion, and prevents passage of flames and hot air in case of a fire, to thereby prevent fire spreading. SOLUTION: According to the method, the whole or a part of a base plate 1 is coated with a putty-like incombustible thermal expansion material 2, and then dried and hardened. Alternatively, a sheet-like incombustible thermal expansion material is fixed to the base plate. Thereafter, vent holes 3 are perforated in the base plate 1 which is then folded into a desired shape, to thereby obtain the fire-protective ventilating member.
