PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel-pipe concrete column and its designing method taking into consideration the fire resistance performance of reinforcements in a fire to solve the problem of reinforcements arranged in the steel-pipe concrete column: that they cannot be arranged since their bending resistance in a fire is not examined. SOLUTION: In a given fire condition, the temperature of concrete at a position a predetermined distance away from the axis of the steel-pipe concrete column is computed and reinforcement is placed in that position. With the reinforcement assumed to be heated to the temperature of the concrete, the tensile strength of the reinforcement is determined, and its bending strength is determined as the product of the tensile strength and the predetermined distance. The reinforcement is placed in the position where the bending strength is maximized.
