PURPOSE: A reading light installed in a backrest of a seat for a vehicle is provided to improve the intensity of illumination for reading by illuminating near the object without streaming light out with adjusting the lighting position and range easily, and to make a passenger read a book in comfortable circumstances by connecting a power switch to a locking unit. CONSTITUTION: A reading light(1) is composed of a reading light body(1a) provided with a light bulb; a support bar(1b) formed of a long and thin tube to support the reading light body; a cable connected to the light bulb of the reading light body through the support bar; and a power switch supplying or cutting off power. The reading light body and the support bar are installed in a containing part(3) formed in a backrest(2) of a seat, and moved out of the backrest to be used. The flexible support bar is bent back and forth or right and left to adjust the position or the direction of irradiation. Plural grooves are formed in the outer periphery of the support bar, and a fitting sill is formed in the containing part to adjust the height of the support bar. A locking unit is installed in the upper part of the containing part to restrict displacement of the reading light, and pushed to lock and release alternately.
