PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting insert capable of improved chip processing even in the case of cutting relatively soft work material such as an aluminum alloy and restraining the adhesion of chips. SOLUTION: A principal plane is almost flat polygon-shaped. Rake faces 12-15 are formed on one principal plane while a sitting face is formed on the other principal plane and a flank 18 is formed on a side face. A cutting edge 16 is formed on the periphery of the edge of the rake face 12, and is provided with a nose R11 at the corner, inclining to the sitting face according to the distance from the nose R11. The rake faces 12-15 have concave faces on both sides of the direction of dividing the nose R11.
