PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary device for a wheelchair to be attached to/ detached from a conventional manual wheelchair, capable of switching the manual function to the electric function of the wheelchair. SOLUTION: The auxiliary device comprises an attaching base 13 to be detachably attached to a wheelchair, a support body 21, a motor attaching base 20 with one end rotatably attached to the attaching base 13 and the other end attached to the lower end of the support body 21, a set of motors 23 and 30 attached to the motor attaching base 20, a pair of wheels 24 and 25 driven by the set of motors 23 and 30, and a position determining part 22 for determining the position of the upper end of the support body 21 and supporting the support body. In the auxiliary device, the height of the wheels 24 and 25 can be changed according to the set position of the position determining part 22.
