PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expanding and contracting type bookend with which books can be prevented from being displaced and falling down like a lot of ninepins by utilizing expansion and contraction and a repulsion force of an elastic body and filling a space between the books and a book shelf. SOLUTION: The expanding and contracting type bookend in which stoppers (2) and (3) are provided on both ends of the elastic body (1) is provided.
