PURPOSE: Provided is a cosmetic composition containing, as an active ingredient, terpinen-4-ol. Therefore, the cosmetic composition has treatment effect of inflammation with less adverse effect on the skin. CONSTITUTION: The cosmetic composition for reducing inflammation contains 0.001 to 3% by weight of terpinen-4-ol, based on the total weight of the composition. For an example, lotion is prepared by mixing 5.0% by weight of glycerin, 3.0% by weight of dipropylene glycol, 0.5% by weight of hyaluronic acid, 0.1% by weight of polyoxylene hardened castor oil, 0.1% by weight of polyethylene oleylether, 5.0% by weight of ethanol, 0.15% by weight of a preservative, a suitable amount of flavorings and pigments, 0.001% by weight of terpinen-4-ol and the balance of purified water.
