PURPOSE: An optical waveguide and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to be capable of preventing the light existing at the inner portion of the optical waveguide from being leaked out of the core of the optical waveguide. CONSTITUTION: An optical waveguide is provided with a clad part(2), a groove portion(3) formed at the upper portion of the clad part, and a core part coated at the entire surface of the resultant structure. At this time, a transparent resin part(8) is used as the core part. The optical waveguide further includes a stamper part(13) formed at the upper portion of the resultant structure. At the time, the core part has a predetermined thickness capable of preventing the leakage of light. Preferably, the core part has a thickness of 3 μm, or less.
