PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray CT apparatus having a small number of restrictions on mAs or cooling even if lessening an X-ray focus. SOLUTION: An X-ray irradiation/detection apparatus has an X-ray irradiation device irradiating a sector-like X-ray beam from the size-variable focus; and an X-ray detection device facing the X-ray irradiation device with a photographing target sandwiched between the X-ray detection device and the X-ray irradiation device, having a plurality of X-ray detection elements disposed in a spreading direction of the sector-like X-ray beam. When rotating the X-ray irradiation/detection apparatus around the photographing target to acquire transmission X-ray data on a plurality of views about the target and generating a tomographic image of the target on the basis of the transmission X-ray data, the size of the focus of the X-ray beam is adjusted according to tomographic image generation conditions.
