PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water purifier, which is provided with a chlorine-adsorbing layer formed of an active-carbon layer, etc., and a filtering layer formed of a hollow-fiber membrane, and prevent emission of bad smell caused by captured microorganisms. SOLUTION: The water purifier comprises an active-carbon filter 5 in which chlorine-containing raw water is introduced, a hollow-fiber membrane module 6 in which water which has passed through the filter 5 is introduced, and further a water-flow pipe 13 for introducing a part of the raw water into the module 6 without passing through the filter 5. Propagation of microorganisms captured by the module 6 is restrained by the chlorine in raw water which has not passed through the filter 5. Thus, emission of bad smell caused by propagation of microorganisms is prevented.
