METHOD FOR EXTRACTING RNA FROM A SPUTUM

PURPOSE: Provided are a method for extracting RNA from a sputum, which is highly mucus, by liquifying it and reagents used therefor. Therefore, the sensitivity and efficiency for separating RNA are increased, while time therefor is shortened. CONSTITUTION: The method for extracting RNA from a sputum is characterized by comprising the steps of: adding guanidinium thiocyanate buffer to a sputum specimen; adding NA bead to th specimen in an amount of about 30 μl/1ml of guanidinium thiocyanate buffer; and adding phenol-guanidine thiocyanate to the NA bead.
