PURPOSE: A method for updating a DTV application program using a uniform resource locator is provided to give a physical sector address to URL information to store the URL information in a corresponding sector separately prepared in a hard disk and to update a corresponding application program of a digital television having the hard disk using the stored URL information. CONSTITUTION: URL information loaded in a broadcasting signal is received(S30). It is judged whether or not URL information identical to the received URL information is stored in a storage of a digital television receiver(S31). When the received URL information is not stored in the storage, the information is stored in a space of the storage(S32). A user selects a URL having an updated application program among URL information items stored in the storage(S35). The user accesses the Internet site of the selected URL. Program to be updated is downloaded from the Internet site and stored(S36). An application program of digital television is updated using the downloaded program(S37).
