PURPOSE: A method of performing quick paging in a shadowing area is provided to control power of a quick paging channel in a base station when a terminal frequently demodulates a paging time slot, in order to effectuate quick paging, thereby reducing power consumption. CONSTITUTION: A standby terminal measures strength of a pilot signal and a quick paging signal(S110). The terminal compares the measured strength of the pilot signal with a predetermined threshold value(S120). If the measured strength exceeds the threshold value, the terminal detects at least one paging indication bit by demodulating a quick paging channel(S130). The terminal decides whether a wake-up function is requested by using the paging indication bit(S140). If so, the terminal enters a wake-up state to demodulate a corresponding paging time slot(S150). If the wake-up function is not requested, the terminal maintains a sleep state and returns to the step 'S110'.
