PURPOSE: To provide a multi-beam light scanning optical system capable of reducing an interval of a main ray of each light beam on a deflection face so as to effectively suppress production of jitter due to out of focus in the main scanning direction and to provide an image forming device using the optical system. CONSTITUTION: The multi-beam light scanning optical system includes; m (m≧2) sets of light source means having n (n≧2) sets of light emitting spots; a beam composite means for composing (nxm) sets of light beams; a deflection means for deflecting (nxm) sets of the light beams from the beam composite means; and an image forming optical system for guiding (nxm) sets of the light beams onto a face to be scanned, when the deflection means scans the face to be scanned by using (nxm) sets of the light beams through deflection scanning in the main scanning direction, main beams of (nxm) sets of the light beams are in crossing at a position of an aperture placed between the beam composite means and the deflection means, and the light beams adjacent to each other on the face to be scanned in the subscanning direction are light beams emitted from the different light source means.
