Mucochloric anhydride having the general formula <FORM:0823329/IV (a)/1> is prepared by heating mucochloric acid with an organic solvent in the presence of a mineral acid catalyst in accordance with the following equation <FORM:0823329/IV (a)/2>ALSO:A fungicidal composition comprises as active ingredient mucochloric anhydride having the general form <FORM:0823329/VI/1> together with a solid carrier, e.g. talc, clay, fuller's earth or liquid carrier, e.g. acetone, xylene, methylated naphthalenes or cyclohexanone or dispersed in water. |
