PURPOSE: Provided is a dye composition for dyeing human keratin fibers, such as hair, comprising at least one monocationic monoazo dye. Also, provided are processes for dyeing human keratin fibers, such as hair, using such a composition. Further provided are novel monocationic monoazo compounds. CONSTITUTION: A cosmetic composition for dyeing human keratin fibers is characterized by comprising, in a cosmetically acceptable medium, at least one monocationic monoazo dye of the formula (I) of W1-W2-N=N-W3, wherein W1 is chosen from 5-, 6-, 7- and 8-membered heterocycles.
