FORMAT DETECTION METHOD

PURPOSE: A format detection method is provided to detect the format of received information by detecting the format of a guide channel of a communication system. CONSTITUTION: Information is received by a receiving equipment(200). Information received over a guiding channel is extracted(202). Decoding operations are performed with respect to information extracted from the guiding channel(204). The M sets of data resulting from the decoding operations are applied to an algorithm that decides whether any of the results indicates a correct decode(206). The algorithm generates a BTFD(Blind Transport Format Detection) failure(208). The corresponding information size value of transport channels are determined from a lookup table on the basis of the information size value of the guiding channel(210).
