PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for compressing a moving picture that can considerably compress a data amount without much deteriorating the image quality. SOLUTION: The moving picture compression apparatus converts received moving picture data 11 into image file groups 13, 14 corresponding to frames with a plurality of resolutions, eliminates motionless pictures and meaningless pictures from the image file group 13 with a high resolution and replaces image files having a large motion with image files with a low resolution. Then finally the moving picture compression apparatus adjusts a reproduction timing of the image files. The apparatus can considerably compress the data amount without much deteriorating the apparent image quality. |
