PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress excessive temperature rise, by self-heating of an induction coil provided in a heating member of an induction heating and fixing apparatus, ensure durability of the coil, and to prevent burnouts. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus is provided with the induction heating and fixing apparatus 40 for heating and pressing a recording material P, passing a nip N and fixing a toner image on the recording material P. The induction heating and fixing apparatus 40 has the heating member 10, inductively heated by the induction coil 13 and a pressure applying member 20 for pressing, contacting the heating member 10 and forming the nip N, and is provided with a coil temperature-sensing means 15 for sensing a temperature of the induction coil 13 and a changing means 100 for changing the time interval of the recording material P passing the nip N, in response to the temperature detected by the coil temperature detecting means 15. |
