PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character arrangement switching apparatus for easily switching an ABC arrangement or a keyboard arrangement, and to provide a facsimile apparatus. SOLUTION: When a one-touch dial key 1 is depressed, a sensor detects the state of a one-touch dial switching board 2. In the case of a keyboard arrangement usage state, input is processed by a table which corresponds to the keyboard arrangement. In the case of non-keyboard arrangement usage state, the input is processed by a table corresponding to an ABC arrangement. For example, when the input of the one-touch dial key 1 is set to one touches 1-36, the row of alphabets is set to be an ABC arrangement. In the case of one touches 37-72 of the one touch dial-switching board 2, the row of alphabets is set to be a keyboard arrangement for processing. In this manner, the user of the one-touch dial-switching board for the switching of the key arrangement eliminates the need for providing a new switching mechanism and easily switches an input system.
