PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric motor capable of effectively cooling a heat source and suppressing generation of electrical continuity failures. SOLUTION: A wiper motor 1 comprises a cooling fan 16 fixed to one end side of the rotary shaft 11 of a rotor 7, a commutator 13 fixed to the other end side of the rotary shaft 11, a yoke 6 which stores the rotor 7 and a cooling fan 16 and has outside air inlets 26 and inside air outlets 27 at one end side and the other end side, respectively, and a brush holder assembly 17 holding a brush 17a which feeds current in sliding contact with the commutator 13, where outside air is introduced through the outside air inlets 26 by the cooling fan 16 and is discharged through the inside air outlets 27. The commutator 13 and the brush holder assembly 17 are disposed, facing opposite the cooling fan 16 relative to the inside air outlets 27. The clearance between the commutator 13, the brush holder assembly 17 and the outer air outlets 27 are partitioned and is substantially shielded by a brush cover 28.
