PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass bulb for a cathode-ray tube which has light weight, a short depth, and high safety, dispensing with increase of the thickness of glass, and to provide the cathode-ray tube. SOLUTION: The glass bulb for the cathode-ray tube has a relation D/H>=3.3, where H is the distance from the inner surface center of a face section to the position at which the reference line of the funnel and the bulb center axis cross each other. D is the length of the diagonal line of the screen, and the glass bulb is equipped with a sealed section having an almost rectangular cross section in the perpendicular direction to the bulb center axis, where the sealed section has curvatures bending toward the bulb center axis at least on the long edge sides.
