MOVING IMAGE ENCODER AND DECODER

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image encoder capable of reducing the error of a predicted image with respect of an inputted image and to provide an image decoder capable of providing with high quality decoded images from encoded images outputted from the image encoder. SOLUTION: The image encoder generates a first predicted image through motion compensation prediction by using a short term frame buffer, generates a third predicted image obtained by arithmetic mean processing applied to the first predicted image and a second predicted image produced by motion compensation prediction by using a long term frame buffer, and generates a motion vector for the short term frame buffer corresponding to the first predicted image and a motion vector for the long term frame buffer corresponding to the second predicted image.
